Adult Classes: New and Exciting Developments for 2010/2011
At CCMC we welcome students of all ages and backgrounds to participate in classes. Adults are especially welcome to enrol for a range of classes, including instrumental, theory, and Leaving Cert Music and Musicianship. Whether the student is a complete beginner or returning to music, CCMC offers a variety of classes to suit each individual. Typically, adult instrumental classes are weekly, individual classes that are held at a time that is convenient for the student. The aim of these classes is to provide an enjoyable method of instrumental learning in a relaxed atmosphere. The goal of the student is extremely important to us, whether it is to learn to play to develop a new skill or to partake in instrumental examinations. We recognise that adults have many pressures on their time from work to family commitments and thus we aim to be as flexible as we can in relation to classes. Many of our adult students agree that learning to play a music instrument offers them an alternative means of relaxation in an ever- increasing demanding society.
New in 2010
From September 2010, CCMC are offering adults the opportunity to participate in 'Fast-Track Theory' and Leaving Certificate Music and Musicianship classes. The 'Fast-Track Theory' course is an intensive course for adults and Leaving Cert students who wish to progress at a quick pace. This course will advance from the rudiments of music, including reading and recognising staff notation and keys, etc, to harmony, melody writing, and score reading and analysis. This class is particularly suitable for later starters who may not have done music theory before. Adults that play a music instrument or sing and complete (or partake in) the 'Fast-Track Theory' course or who already have training in music theory are invited to enrol for Leaving Cert Music and Musicianship. We have a range of one or two year course options available for Leaving Cert. These are weekly hour and a half classes held in Drinan Street. There are no prerequisites to enrolling for such classes. Further information and course details are available from the Course Director, Shena Shortall.
