Junior and Leaving Cert Music and Musicianship
At CCMC, we have over twenty years experience teaching Junior Cert and Leaving Cert Music and Musicianship courses. These classes tend to be very popular among students who may not be in a position to do music in school. The Leaving Cert music course offers all music students the opportunity to perform a practical that can be worth up to 50% of the overall music exam result (or 25 in Junior Cert). With many students learning instruments outside school, this is often a very popular choice. Our results for these classes have been consistently outstanding year after year and we are proud of our students' acheivements.
Leaving Cert Music and Musicianship
The Leaving Cert Course has three sections - Aural, Written and Practical. Each of these sections are worth 25%. the student chooses an 'elective in one of these areas, or in music technology, for the other 25%. The course is done over two years (5th and 6th year). The class covers the aural (listening and Written (Composition) sections of the course. The practical is not covered in this class but practical assistance and advice is offered. CCMC students cover their practical at their instrumental lesson. External students should meet with the course director to discuss their arrangements for their practical. The classes usually take place on Tuesday / Wednesday / thursday evening (one and a half hours per week) and all of our Leaving Cert classes are held in Drinan Street.
Fast Track Theory
This is an intensive course for adults and Leaving Cert students who may not have done theory before and who wish to progress at a fast pace. It is an optional class (45 minutes per week) and is held for students who may need extra assistance with theory. This is useful for students who have not previously done theory of music, or for 5th year students who have not done Junior Cert Music. This class is free of charge to students enrolled on the Leaving Cert course
