A Message from the Principal

Dear Student,

I am delighted to present the Prospectus for 2011/2012 for Cork City Music College and Music Outreach Network. The motto for the year is 'wake up to music!' and in the current economic climate, it is essential that activities such as music empower us to overcome the pessimism that often surrounds us in our daily lives. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced musician, music has the efficacy to lift our spirits and help us relax. At CCMC we have an extensive range of courses that are offered with flexible modes of delivery, enabling students to continue the process of lifelong learning.

If you think that music classes are just for children, think again! More than ever, music is proving to be an extremely popular pastime for adults. At CCMC, a large number of our students are adults who combine the pleasure of music making with their busy daily lives. In addition to instrumental classes, adults can also enrol for a variety of courses including theory, Leaving Cert Music and Musicianship, and ensemble performance.

Our principal objective is to instil a love of music in our students through recognising every student, adult or child, as an individual and thus we provide a music education that is broad ranging in styles and that caters for the interests and abilities of the student. While we actively encourage students to participate in ensembles, concerts, competitions, and exams, these are by no means compulsory. Indeed anyone who has ever completed a music exam will find the article written by former Principal at CCMC, Kay O' Sullivan, very interesting!

I hope that you enjoy reading this booklet and that it provides you with the information that you require. For further details on any of our courses please do not hesitate to contact us directly or read about it here on www.ccmc.ie

Shena Shortall,

Principal.
