Orchestras and Ensembles
It is our policy to encourage ensemble music making and weekends are set aside for orchestra and ensemble work. The college now boasts several flute and recorder ensembles, a senior orchestra, and a preparatory string group. The repertoire is varied including classical works, film music, and popular pieces. All string and wind players are encouraged to join the ensembles, which are free of charge to students of the College. CCMC Orchestra regularly joins forces with other youth orchestras and choirs from around Ireland. In the past, the CCMC ensembles have performed in venues such as City Hall and St. Fin Barre's Cathedral in Cork, in the National Concert Hall and the Helix Theatre in Dublin, and on local radio. External musicians are welcome to join the ensembles for a small fee. For further details please contact us.
We presently have a number of instruments, including double bass and viola, available to loan to any student who is interested in becoming part of an ensemble. Think about it for September!
